What coaches look for
Effort, coachability, and how a player competes.
Tools matter. So does what a player does after a bad rep. Admirals coaches watch for players who hustle between drills, listen the first time, and pick up their teammates. That is the player who keeps getting better long after tryouts are over.
“There's a big difference between an event that provides exposure and an event that exposes you.” Coach D
When are the 2026 Admirals tryouts?
Admirals Baseball Club holds tryouts every November. The 2026 dates and locations go to families on the tryout list first. In 2025, tryouts ran November 8 at The ACE in Vacaville, November 9 at Vanden High School, and November 29 in Sacramento.
Who can try out for the Admirals?
Baseball players from 8u through high school, advanced 7th and 8th graders for the Rolling Two~Ones, and softball players 12u through 18u for the Lady Admirals. Players come from Vacaville, Sacramento and across Northern California.
What happens at an Admirals tryout?
Tryouts run as a two-day process. Players test in front of the coaching staff at The ACE and play live. After tryouts, coaches place each player on the team that fits their level and may invite some players to a private workout before rosters are final.
What should my player bring to tryouts?
Glove, bat, helmet, cleats or turf shoes, baseball pants and water. Catchers bring their gear. The exact check-in time goes out with the tryout details.
What if my player misses the November tryout?
Get on the tryout list anyway. When a roster spot opens during the year, the Admirals hold private evaluations, and families on the list hear about them first.
Do players have to meet a grade requirement?
Yes. Every Admirals athlete keeps a 3.0 GPA or better and gives back at two charitable events a year. Coaches go over this with every family before a player commits.
